Toronto Boy, 13, Arrested in Markham Vehicle Thefts; Three Suspects Still at Large

A 13-year-old boy from Toronto is facing multiple charges after a string of residential break-ins in Markham led to the theft of four vehicles, York Regional Police report.

The investigation began on March 9, when police responded to two attempted break-ins in the Denison Street and Middlefield Road area. While the suspects failed to enter the first two homes, they successfully breached a third, where they stole a set of car keys—and subsequently, two vehicles parked in the driveway.

Fast forward to March 11. Officers were dispatched to another Markham neighborhood—this time near Fonda Road and Golden Avenue—following reports of another stolen vehicle. Police determined that four suspects had attempted to enter at least one residence before gaining access to a home and making off with another pair of vehicles.

All four stolen vehicles were later located and recovered in Toronto. In a key development, one of the suspects was seen returning to one of the stolen cars. That decision proved costly—police moved in and made an arrest.

The suspect? A 13-year-old boy.

He now faces a laundry list of charges, including:

  • Four counts of theft of a motor vehicle

  • Three counts of attempted break and enter

  • Two counts of break and enter and commit

  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime

Police are still searching for three additional suspects who remain at large. They were last seen wearing masks, hooded sweaters, and track pants.

Youth, Theft, and Poor Planning

Let’s take a second here. Thirteen years old. That’s barely high school. While most kids that age are stealing fries off a friend’s plate, this one was allegedly helping steal four cars in under three days.

It’s the kind of story that makes you pause—and then shake your head.

There’s an old saying: “If you’re going to do something dumb, at least don’t go back to the scene of the dumb.” Clearly, that memo didn’t reach this group.

York police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, parents everywhere are left asking the same question: where are these kids getting their life plans—out of a Fast & Furious script?
