
York Regional Police have charged a 31-year-old Markham man with voyeurism following an investigation into an alleged incident at the Milliken Mills Community Centre on August 21.
According to police, the incident involved a youth who was using a unisex change room at the facility. The victim reported seeing a cellphone pointed in their direction, believing they were being recorded. Police allege the suspect was standing on a bench inside a nearby stall at the time.
The suspect fled the scene, and the youth immediately contacted authorities. No physical injuries were reported.
Following a months-long investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Markham on January 3. As a result, the suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of voyeurism.
York police have expressed concern that there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
